Meet Your Family & Check Out the New Digs

You were four days old when you were able to come home and meet Murphy and Pouncer.

Murphy was excited to see you. You passed the smell test & kisses were in order. He took to you like white on rice as the saying goes.  If you made a noise he was up on his feet and at your side.  If we didn't react in what he deemed an appropriate amount of time, he frantically paced between us and you, begging us to spring into action.  You would think after four months of noises he would calm down, but he still rushes to your side at the slightest whimper. Don't worry- you took to him pretty quick as well.  The wet dog nose, furry Muppet look, and kisses make you smile. You look at him with a curiosity in your eye and he looks at you with love and protection written all over his face.  I think you two are going to be best friends.

Pouncer was the exact opposite-not mad, but rather unimpressed.  She took one look at you, then turned to me as if to say "Get serious. Remember how great is was when it was just the two of us. I stood by you when you brought home Steve who likes to pick on me, then that darn dog who follows me around and took my attention. But now a baby?! I am not sure I can get on board with this."  You were not going to win her over anytime soon. You were about to boot her from the nursery which she had adopted as her room the month and a half we were there pre-Maddux. She loved basking in the sunlight on the rocker and hiding underneath the crib when Murph annoyed her until...she heard the sweet sounds of your crying.  She resigned and moved to the room across the hall.  Still stays there today, but she will occasionally visit with you in your room. Don't worry-it took her quite some time to warm up to Murphy, but she did.  Jury is still out on whether she likes your dad.  You can see the excitement on her face here when we told her you were coming...

To give you some perspective: Murphy & Pouncer had birthday's right before you were born. Murphy turned 5 on June 12th and the ole' grump Pounce turned 8 on July 19th.

Here is a look at your room.  Sorry there wasn't much on the walls when you first got there.  Just be thankful grandma Shelley painted over the hideous Red, Blue, and Yellow walls that were there when we moved in.

Your first car ride on our way home from the hospital....

Murphy: The Guard Dog

He escorted you on your first walk....

And even gave up his favorite place to lay for you.

 Welcome Home baby boy.
